Formation is a furniture house rooted in Danish design sensibility and built on integrated craft.
We design, develop and produce upholstered furniture and wood-based pieces — sofas, accent chairs, dining chairs, tables, poufs and benches — for the rooms where people gather, work and rest.
Our work begins with proportion, material and intention. Each piece is shaped to hold its place in a space; not to compete with it, but to complete it.
Designed in Denmark, made in Vietnam
Formation is built around a simple idea: that design and production should not live apart.
Our studio works in the Danish tradition of considered, material-led design — drawing on a heritage that values clarity, restraint and the honest expression of craft. Our manufacturing happens in our own facilities in Ho Chi Minh City, where upholstery, woodwork, prototyping and finishing sit under one roof.
This is not outsourcing. It is integration. By holding design and production within the same house, we keep close control over every stage — from first sketch to final stitch — and shape each piece with the care it deserves.
Vietnam is where Formation is made. Our showroom in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, is the first place to experience the brand and the collection in person.
A house, two ways to meet us
Formation works with two kinds of audiences, under one roof.
The Collection is our own line of furniture, developed for contemporary interiors. It is available to architects, interior designers, retailers and hospitality operators who specify and place pieces with intention. Each model is built to perform in real spaces, with materials and finishes chosen for longevity as well as feel.
Partnerships is how we work with brands, designers and studios who want to develop furniture with us. Some choose pieces from the Collection. Some bring existing products into our production. Others develop something entirely new with our team — from first concept to finished object.
The thread between the two is the same: considered design, integrated craft, furniture made to last.
What we believe
Form before decoration. A piece of furniture earns its place through proportion, balance and presence — not through ornament. We design with restraint, and trust the form to speak.
Material as voice. Every fabric, wood and finish carries a character. We work closely with our materials and let them shape the final piece, rather than imposing a finish on top of them.
Craft as control. Owning our production is how we protect the integrity of what we make. It allows us to develop, prototype and refine without distance — and to deliver consistency across every order, whether it is one sofa or one hundred.
Quiet over loud. We are not a brand that shouts. The pieces are made to live with, season after season, and to feel right long after the moment of purchase.
Working with Formation
If you are an architect, interior designer, retailer or hospitality operator, our Collection is open for specification, with full technical support, material samples and lead times available on request.
If you are a brand, studio or designer looking for a development and manufacturing partner, we work in three ways: producing pieces from our existing Collection under your terms, taking your existing designs into our production, or developing new products together from concept to delivery.
